David Hawkins

David Hawkins is a Maritimer by choice and Montréaler by birth. His career in the field of marketing communications spans over 45 years. In the mid-70s he and his wife Lorrie Bell-Hawkins started a two-person advertising and public relations firm, Hawk Communications Inc., in Sackville, New Brunswick. Over the next quarter century they grew it into one of the Atlantic Region's largest integrated communications firms with about seventy-five employees. "Through the commitment, loyalty, creativity and support of numerous Hawk employees and their families - freelancers, consultants, suppliers and clients - we managed, as a team, to grow the firm to become a pretty good medium sized advertising and pr agency," says David. During the 90's the firm moved its headquarters to Moncton while maintaining small satellite offices in five other centres including Ottawa and Toronto. In its first 25 years, Hawk served hundreds of clients including larger enterprises such as McCain Foods, numerous Irving companies, NBTel, Moosehead, Ganong, Sabian, Tourism New Brunswick, Atlantic Industries, the Government of Canada, the City of Moncton, Enterprise Greater Moncton, Barrett companies, Patterson Palmer, Rogers and Enbridge as well as a wide variety of thriving local enterprises. In the fall of 2001 the firm was sold to outside interests. At present David continues to participate to the field of marketing communications. From 2007 - 2010 he was Senior Associate Strategist to Couleur Co-création, an NB-based operating division of Colour Creative Persuasion, Halifax. As well, he operated his own consultancy with his original company - Kristaeli Communications. Today, he is a partner and strategist with a Moncton-based company he co-founded in January of 2011 - XYZ Stratégie-Communication Inc. focused on business transformation and marketing communications/pr/gr. Also, in 2012, David co-founded another communications company which is independently managed - BrainWorks Marketing Services also located in Moncton, NB. BrainWorks specializing in advertising, promotion and social media. Additionally, within the private sector, Mr. Hawkins continues to be deeply involved as a volunteer and philanthropist in many not-for-profit organizations.
