Knit Pickers PEI

CURRENTLY FUNDRAISING

Margaret McEachern, Owner/Artisan

at

I am the owner/operator of Knit Pickers PEI, which was established in 2005.  At the studio, I offer a wide range of Tourism PEI-approved “Authentic PEI Experiences”. I source knitting and weaving related goods solely from Canadian farmers, mills, artisans and manufacturers. I am passionate about the environment and carry only natural fibres such as wool and alpaca. I also created an environmentally friendly line of personal care products, sold exclusively at Knit Pickers PEI under the “Ewe Love” line. I have an in-depth knowledge of the wool industry and the benefits of wool to both the environment and to its end-user. My wool garments have been featured twice at the Canadian Pavilion at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Centre. I have served on numerous boards and committees including: Glenaladale Heritage Trust as Treasurer and founding Board member; Artisan PEI Board member; Culture PEI (now Creative PEI) Vice-Chair and Craft Representative; PEI Business Women’s Association Bylaws Committee member; ACT (A Community Theatre) Board member; and currently serve as Vice-President and Marketing Committee member with Central Coastal Tourism Partnership. I am also a volunteer with Campaign for Wool Canada. Prior to opening Knit Pickers PEI, I worked for over 10 years in non-profit management as Program Manager/Marketing Manager for a national not-for-profit educational institute and as Executive Director for numerous Provincial not-for-profit organizations as an Association Management Consultant in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island. In 2022, I was a nominee for RBC’s Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award. I am currently working on establishing a wool pellet mill that will use excess and waste wool to create pellets that can be used in gardens to replace traditional mulch and chemical fertilizers, to repel many pests and to reduce the need to water by an average of 25%.
